This was the last hotel of our tour and we opted to stay for two extra nights. We stayed in the block behind the pool on the top floor (they will take your bag up and bring it down for you too if you phone down to reception). Huge room with a comfortable double bed, dressing table, wardrobe. There was a kettle which we didn't use and a fridge. Bathroom was a good size with a shower (the head needed a little encouragement to stay in place when shower on!) with plenty of hot water. The room was really clean. There was a door onto a balcony which is shared with all the rooms but they have put screens in between them to give a little privacy. Chairs and tables and a view over the pool. You can lock the door so safe enough. Pool area clean and tidy and not fight for a sunbed over the New Year period we were there. Included breakfast is filling, with choice of eggs and drink. had lunch in the restaurant one day too which seemed good value. The hotel is in an excellent location in Sanur, off the main strip so really quiet and there are beautiful gardens. Slept well here and it was peaceful and quiet. You do have to walk down two back streets and they were a bit smelly when we were here because there seemed to be an issue with drains over flowing, but that is not the fault of the hotel! And yes there are mozzies but again not the fault of the hotel; someone recommended some coils which seemed to do the trick! Reception very helpful; we wanted to do washing, they were going to take two days to do it and when we expressed surprise they pointed out the place just opposite the entrance who did it within 24 hours! They were also helpful in letting us arrange a late check out (obviously paid for). Best way to get to the beach is through the mall (turn left at the main strip) as the fancy hotels block the entrance to the beach all along the strip. You are within a short walking distance of loads of bars, restaurants and shops. Sanur was not the best place we stayed in Bali but Bumi Bungalows was a relaxing, calm place to enjoy our last few nights in Bali, including NYE (main action is fireworks on the beach, no problem getting a table for dinner on the main strip first). Only slight concern was the main door to our room felt very flimsy, but given the location it didn't seem to be a big issue. Can't fault what they are offering.
Positives - not noisy Great bfast Helpful staff Air con Negatives Mosquitoes so many in our room Mattress thin and old Pillows flat and old Towels old and stained Didn’t sleep as air con behind wall from beds and mosquito nets made it hot Unkempt pool and gardens Wouldn’t go back…
Returned to stay in this beautiful tranquil hotel after 18 years & found it to be as perfect as it was then. Set in a garden oasis in a quite off road of Sanur. Close to the beach, shops, bars & restaurants. The staff could not be more welcoming. I highly recommend booking Yanne the hotels lovely taxi driver who took us out for a full day to markets, rice fields. Ubuds; temple, butterfly 🦋 sanctuary monkey forest & waterfall.
Off road a fair way. Down a Laneway. 3% service charge on arrival for using card to pay. Beautiful room upstairs overlooking pool but unable to climb steep stairs. Hotel changed on request. Four days here. Nice enough pool area, very clean. Great choice and food for breakfast. Evening meal from as little as $5.00. Good value for money. I enjoyed my stay, room was lovely near to pool. Hotel fairly full but quiet at night. Helpfully staff, a pleasant stay. Nothing spectacular!.
This place was SO AUTHENTIC! If you want a real old beautiful place at an amazing price this is the place. It’s very old but clean, air conditioned, quiet and beautiful. We walked out for breakfast to one of the little places down the street ( also had a reasonable and delicious dinner at Oliver’s) we were told we could dip in the pool till later at night if we were quiet which is just what we wanted. We’ll stay there again. Grab taxis had no trouble finding it
We've stayed here twice, and will be back again. It's a family-run collection of two- and one-story bungalows, set around gardens and a swimming pool. It's on the opposite side of Sanur's main street from the beach, up a quiet road. So it's insulated from beach resorts' party noise, frenzy, and costs. Onsite breakfasts are tasty, and there are some excellent restaurants and warungs nearby on the road around the corner. And around the next corner onto the main street (Jalan Danau Tamblingan) are some of Sanur's most interesting restaurants and bars. (Like Casalanca, where you can hear adorable Balinese bands play Western rock and pop styles.) In our experience, whenever there's a problem (like guests who thought they still had our reserved room for an extra day), Wayan and her staff cheerfully and graciously work it out. No complaints about the facilities, and the super deluxe rooms are colonial palatial. Nice place.!
